Director of Data Management
Johnita Byrd is responsible for both panel management and data management. She has over 12 years of experience in data management and warehousing, applications development, quality and process improvement, statistical analysis and modeling, forecasting, and programming. Prior to joining dQ&A, Johnita was a Technical Specialist for ICF International, providing data management and statistical support to International PEPFAR (President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) funded projects in sub-Saharan Africa through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Johnita received her BS in Mathematics at Spelman College, as well as her BS and MS in Industrial Engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia.
Caterina Florissi joined dQ&A in June 2018 after graduating as a salutatorian of Dartmouth College. As a Research Associate, Caterina collects, analyzes, and reports on data meant to improve life with diabetes in Canada and in Europe. Caterina majored in neuroscience and spent four years working in multiple cognitive neuroscience labs. Her experiences inspired her to design her own honors thesis project, in which she used EEG (brain wave) recordings to understand the influence of brands on food choices. On campus, Caterina participated in various global health programs, volunteered as a tutor for elementary school students, and played club tennis.
Qualitative Project Director
Carolyn Jillson is responsible for the management, logistics, and recruiting for dQ&A's qualitative projects. Carolyn has extensive experience in both qualitative and quantitative research, including working as an analyst on tracking studies at Audits & Surveys and studying the effects of advertising on building brands at Hall & Partners USA. While serving as Peace Corps Volunteer in Cameroon teaching rural women basic business skills, she discovered how vital good health is to one's livelihood. Upon return from the Peace Corps, she managed qualitative research projects at Doyle Research Associates while earning a Master in Public Health from DePaul University. Carolyn also has a BS in Management and International Business from New York University, Stern School of Business.
Sophie Koontz leads dQ&A's research and production processes, product management and innovation, brand and product marketing, and recruitment and staffing. She focuses on process improvement and implementation. Previously, she managed the dQ&A Diabetes Connections – US Patient product, which synthesizes data and insights from over 5,000 people with diabetes every quarter. Prior to joining dQ&A, Sophie worked at a health technology non-profit and at the Department of Health and Human Services, where she analyzed data on the Affordable Care Act and the Children's Health Insurance Program. Sophie has a BA in Human Biology from Stanford University.
VP QualitativeAlice Morgan founded dQ&A's qualitative research practice in 2016, after her son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. She has directed numerous diabetes-focused qualitative research studies since joining dQ&A, and is an expert in classic and cutting-edge qualitative techniques. Alice has published and presented on qualitative research and is a recognized thought leader in the field. An intuitive, flexible, and deeply empathetic moderator, participants in her sessions feel comfortable sharing sensitive information about living with diabetes. Previously, Alice worked for a boutique qualitative research firm, as an independent moderator, and for a full-service market research company. She has an MBA from Indiana University, a BA from Bryn Mawr College, and has completed RIVA and CPSI training. Alice lives in Michigan, where she and her husband own Satchel's, Ann Arbor's local BBQ joint.
VP Research and Analytics
Christianne Pang heads up dQ&A quantitative research and patient preference studies. She has over 20 years of experience in quantitative market research in diabetes, telecommunications and technology, spanning Europe, US, Canada and South America. Prior to dQ&A, Christianne led global consumer insights research and the mobile retail measurement businesses for Nielsen Mobile and consumer research for major mobile operators in Europe. Christianne holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Bachelor of Science from University of California, Berkeley.
Jonathan Rost joined dQ&A as a Research Associate in June 2018 after graduating as a salutatorian summa cum laude from Dartmouth College. At dQ&A, he runs the dQ&A Diabetes Connections – US Patient product, surveying, synthesizing, and reporting the experiences and perspectives of more than 5,000 people with diabetes in the United States. Jonathan majored in neuroscience, also focusing on biology and chemistry during his undergrad years. Throughout his junior year, he completed a Presidential Scholars research project focusing on the neural decoding of resting brain states. Jonathan enjoys spending time outdoors and is an avid runner looking to complete his third marathon.
Qualitative Research Moderator
Jo-Ann Ryan is a healthcare moderator with extensive experience in diabetes. She has moderated numerous projects at dQ&A with T1s and T2s as well as health care professionals, including GPs, CDEs, and Pharmacists. She has also conducted qualitative research for major health insurance carriers, hospital systems, and a leading global medical supplier. Jo-Ann has worked as an independent moderator and at several research firms, including Doyle Research Associates/2020 Research, The Marketing Workshop, Elrick & Lavidge (now Kantar TNS), and Moore & Symons. Jo-Ann has a BS degree in Education from Bridgewater State University and an MA in Psychology from Argosy University. She has completed RIVA moderator and CPSI ideation training. When she is not moderating, Jo-Ann acts as a roadie and publicist for her husband who is a singer/songwriter.
Director of Customer Success
Erik Shoger's mission is to match unanswered client questions with dQ&A's expertise in patient-focused quantitative and qualitative research. Erik has extensive experience managing custom and proprietary research projects across the spectrum of diabetes therapies, as well as a broad knowledge of dQ&A's syndicated research services. Prior to joining dQ&A, Erik was Vice President, Senior Analyst at Northcoast Research, a sell-side equity research firm, where he conducted investment and market research on medical device companies, including those focused on diabetes, for large institutional investors. Erik was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of two, which made dQ&A the perfect match for his desire to provide a voice for patients like himself. Erik has an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University and a BA in economics from The College of Wooster.
Keaton Stoner currently oversees the dQ&A Diabetes Connections – US Patient product, leading its content, strategy, and innovation. Keaton also manages client accounts, directs custom quantitative projects, and runs Associate recruitment. Before his current role, Keaton ran the daily operations and mechanics of the US Diabetes Connections product. Prior to joining dQ&A in May 2017, Keaton graduated with distinction from Duke University with a BS in Biology. While at Duke, Keaton conducted research in Duke Hospital's anesthesiology and emergency departments, completed healthcare-focused internships in New York and Peru, and studied tropical diseases in Costa Rica.
Richard Wood founded dQ&A with Kelly and John Close in 2009. A recognized expert on the diabetes patient experience, Richard has presented patient research results at the FDA, Children with Diabetes, the DiabetesMine Innovation Summit, and numerous private dQ&A client events. Under his leadership, dQ&A researchers have authored four posters at recent ADA Scientific Sessions conferences. Richard was previously Vice President of Consumer Insights at Nielsen, where he directed consumer market research programs in the USA, Europe and Asia. Trained originally as an engineer in the UK and France, Richard has extensive experience from a 20-year career in consumer and industry research, mobile applications, and as a technology journalist, editor and publisher. Richard has an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.
VP Research Services
Phin Younge directs research, analytics and panel management at dQ&A. Phin has over 15 years of experience in teaching and research management. Prior to joining dQ&A, Phin managed measurement science as well as key product development activities for a large practice group at Nielsen, including Nielsen's flagship Mobile Consumer Insights research program. He is named on a key patent at Nielsen focused on the methods and procedures for merging large data sets to achieve accurate measurement. dQ&A's resident polymath, Phin received his MA and BA in English from Stanford University.
